Back office

One screen that keeps an eye on all my sites, the servers and the email — and alerts me on Telegram when something needs attention.

About the project

I run five sites spread over three hosting providers, and a handful of mailboxes. Instead of logging in everywhere every morning, a back office has been doing that for me since October 2026, on a small PC at home. The image above is a sketch; the real screen shows email and client data.

What it does

  • Tracks the availability of every site and reports when one goes down
  • Visitor numbers from the server logs — no cookies or trackers on the sites themselves
  • Server status: disk space, certificates, backups and the email settings in DNS
  • Gmail and three business mailboxes summarised by Claude Haiku every fifteen minutes; important mail arrives on my phone straight away, tasks go to Google Tasks
  • A morning message with today's calendar
  • A weekly draft of the AI briefing for ai-d3signer.com, for approval

Technology

PHP 8.3 and SQLite without external dependencies, in Docker, behind Cloudflare Access. On the server the back office can do one thing only: read data, through a single fixed command. It cannot change anything there.

Why this is in a portfolio

This is exactly the kind of automation I build for businesses too: no more checking everything yourself, but a nudge when it matters — and AI only where it genuinely saves time.
